The Organised Crime Squad have been called in to investigate after 100 cannabis plants went missing - despite being guarded by police officers.

The plants were uncovered when officers raided an Anketell property last Thursday and allegedly found them being grown in buildings on the property and in the bush.

A 61-year-old man and 41-year-old woman were arrested at the property and charged with cultivating the crop, while police officers were assigned to guard the scene overnight.

But a search warrant was executed on the site the next morning and police say persons unknown had breached the scene and removed about 100 plants.

The Organised Crime Squad is now investigating how that came to be the case.

The people charged over the cannabis cultivation are in custody and will appear in Perth Magistrates Court in January 16.
